The last fireflies look for sheltered and protected areas such as dense vegetation, tall grass, or under leaves. They seek out these places to hide and rest during the day, as they are nocturnal insects and are most active at night. These hiding spots also provide them with protection from predators and harsh weather conditions. **

There are several reasons why firefly populations are declining. One major factor is habitat loss due to urbanization and agricultural development, which reduces the availability of suitable habitats for fireflies to live and reproduce. Light pollution also disrupts their mating behavior and makes it difficult for them to find each other. Pesticide use and pollution can also harm firefly populations by reducing their food sources and disrupting their reproductive cycles. Additionally, climate change may be impacting firefly populations by altering their habitats and life cycles. Overall, a combination of human activities and environmental changes are contributing to the decline of fireflies. **
